As you've probably read during your search, Mobius' appearance was based on Mark Gruenwald, a long time writer and editor at Marvel comics. Since Gruenwald was a noted stickler for continuity, Simonson drawing Mobius to look like him was a fun meta jab at his friend.

He will completely negate Revonna, as well as Zabu, Sera, and several other prominent meta or deck-defining cards until he's adjusted. He will quite literally never leave the meta in his current state. Maybe I'm wrong. To me Mobius isn't just "good." It's problematic.
