2011年11月16日 · Whatever you are replacing do not use pressure treated home depot wood. It is of poor quality and will warp and twist like crazy once it is in the boat. Also, there is no reason to fiberglass it into the hull. The best thing you can do is rebuild the area in the same manner that it was originally constructed.

I printed the drawings out to scale and sat down to figure out whether I could get the bottom panel and lower strakes onto 5 sheets of ply, rather than 6.

The idea is to lay out six 4x8 sheets (two rows of 3) , butt the sheets together, and working from underneath the table, epoxy and tape the joints.

2015年12月12日 · HDPE can not be glued with anything but a few acrylic resins like 3M DP-8005. It can however be welded. The only reason that rotomolded boats work structurally is that they are generally small and have few, small, flat surfaces and lots of compound curved surfaces. Flat surfaces are too flexible in HDPE.

S-glass and twill weaves (as well as most exotic fabrics) do not go anywhere near as clear, which is a problem on a stripper. E-glass will generally come woth Volan or sometimes Silane sizing, which will work fine with your epoxy.

2010年2月27日 · Some designers recommend cross cutting 4x8 sheets of ply and scarfing enough 48" long panels together to achieve the required length of your boats bottom or side panel. This construction technique results in a much a stiffer panel and is much superior in most applications, even though it does require a bit more work.

10-22-2023, 01:25 PM. Select a frame that is well away from the rot and cut all wood along it's aft face. This includes stringers, planking and keel. Remove all wood aft of the cut, right down to the fiberglass. This will involve some creative use of adze, crowbar, etc. Sand the inside face of the fiberglass clean.
