Residential UV lights are worthless and potentially hazardous
2021年1月13日 · UV light has been known to kill many things. Sunlight UV-A if exposed long enough has shown to kill other viruses in the Covid Family. UV-B has been shown to help different skin conditions. UV-C has shown like UV-A that it kills most virus and bacteria, it's more potent and takes shorter exposure.

Just looking to add this thing the right way. when mounting a uv light make sure that if you mount on the return that the filter is able to handle uv light. if you mount above the coil make sure that drain pan is able to handle uv light otherwise it will turn it in to jelly.

The key to avoiding mold is to avoid constant +70%RH humidity for +24 hours in the ducts. Connecting a small ducted dehumidifier to the ducts of the a/c supply and operating the fan for several hours a day to dry out the a/c ducts stop mold for developing. Maintain <55%RH in the home also helps dry out the air handler.

2012年3月18日 · Yes, we've only used the UV light for 5 or 6 days total. It was installed in January with a brand new duct board plenum (replaced due to mold identified by the environmental guy). The smell from the UV light was bad after 3-4 days and then the paint melted off 2 supply grills (within 3-4 days!)
