2012年2月7日 · That $6/bf must be for "sinker' or "deadhead" cypress , which is old growth logs (or someone hoping to hit a homerun with not much lumber to sell). In Fla. $1-!.50/bf for mill run, rough,green lumber is the going price. Even at that, we get cheaper cypress being sent down here from the Carolina's. Mark

I'd like to use 2 1/2" or 3" rough cut lumber for the deck boards, but I have no idea what wood would be best or thickness. A local sawmill suggested Beech, saying that is a hard wood that will last.

I have cut many framing components from SYP, these consisted of 2x4's ,6's, 8's,10's and 12's, Excluding the 8"er's through the 12"er's all the dimensions were cut 1/8" oversize from factory dimensions.

I took him two pallets of side lumber cut to 40" length earlier in the week. I just got an email form him that said they buy side lumber from mills that bring them cants and asked me if I was going to bring him any cants.

2002年9月16日 · For low grade, we saw heavy to 8'6" and make ties. We also cut our straight oak in 14'-23' for switch ties. Crooked logs are the worst things to make. For some reason, our loggers believe that you can take a crooked log and straighten it out on the mill. What generally happens is that 2 sides will be severely down graded due to pith.

2024年9月19日 · All this is green SYP. Shrinkage on framing lumber is no big deal. But if you are trying to trim something out, you will have gaps. Also expect some mildew and mold on the lumber especially if it rains on it. I usually keep a backpack sprayer with bleach to spray on the wood to kill any mold. Also turns the wood back pretty and yellow.
