Cases without the circle will work with wireless charging, but the magnetic strength is greatly reduced to a point where it may/probably won't hold if you're using it on a car holder, stand, etc. The circle hides the extra magnets which are there to keep the magnets strong.

Works fine this way. If you want an additional magnet embedded, the Apple branded cases are probably as thin as you can get. J.

The MagSafe charger and the MagSafe wallet attach exactly the same as on a bare 12 series phone and the same as on Apple's cases. The strength of the magnets seem identical.
