2009年8月20日 · For my woodshed I opted to go longer rather than deeper due to the property lay out and my main access to the wood will be from the front. I also plan to do most of the rows stacked north to south (so to speak) so I can more or less pick and choose which wood to use . . . i.e. slabwood and shoulder season wood vs. the better wood.

2014年1月21日 · For me drying stacks and wood sheds are different. For drying stacks, I put the wood on black locust split rails, too keep the wood a bit off the ground to dry. Pallets will also work just as fine. My drying stacks have no cover. I let the sun beat down on them all summer to help suck out the water from the wood.

2018年11月15日 · Sheds are great if the wood isn't so wet when it goes in, that it molds. NC is a humid place, so you need to get it dry enough to avoid the mold. Any other type of top cover is fine. Ignore all nonsense about leaving it open to the rain and snow. If you are trying to dry something, keep it from getting wetter.

2023年3月27日 · Remove the slats across the back and move the stacks behind it so you can get to the back of the shed with whatever you use to load and unload wood. Then you can unload dry wood from the back and fill it up with wet wood, then unload from the front next year. I.e. a first in, first out queue rather than the first in last out that is is now.

2012年11月19日 · The species of wood actually makes no difference if your ahead. If your 3 years ahead ALL of the wood will be dry at the same time.. If your splitting for 23/24 all of the wood will be ready to burn that year regardless of what kind of wood it is so separating makes no sense and makes thing's more difficult.
