SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (KY3) — Springfield Public Schools cut the ribbon on a new storm shelter at Watkins Elementary School. Students, staff, and community leaders helped open the shelter on Thursday.
EMA director Russell Weeden stated the county now has two of the four storm shelters up and running. One is located in Akron and the other in Sawyerville, both shelters are expected to hold 50 people.
