Eminem and N.W.A (Dr. Dre, Ice Cube, Eazy-E, MC Ren and DJ Yella) face some tough competition for spots in the Songwriters Hall of Fame.

The Songwriters Hall of Fame revealed its nominees for the class of 2025, including Eminem, Sheryl Crow and Janet Jackson, among others.

NEW YORK — Eminem, Boy George, George Clinton, Sheryl Crow, Janet Jackson, the Doobie Brothers, N.W.A. and Alanis Morissette are among the nominees for the 2025 class at the Songwriters Hall of Fame, an eclectic group of rap, rock, hip-hop and pop pioneers.

Boy George, George Clinton, the Doobie Brothers and more are also among the nominees for the 2025 class at the Songwriters Hall of Fame.

Janet Jackson, Eminem, N.W.A, George Clinton, Boy George, Sheryl Crow and Sonny Curtis — an original member of Buddy Holly’s Crickets who went on to compose the theme song for The Mary Tyler Moore Show (“Love Is All Around”) — are among the 2025 nominees announced Tuesday for induction into the Songwriters Hall of Fame.

Just six will be elected – three from 13 nominees in the performing songwriters category and three from 13 nominees in the songwriters category, which is reserved for non-performing songwriters. The six inductees will be celebrated at the SHOF’s 2025 Induction & Awards Gala,
