Microsoft today announced that it will "soon" be combining its Xbox and Xbox Game Pass apps on the iPhone and iPad, as well as on Android.

Microsoft is streamlining its Xbox mobile apps and integrating features from its standalone Xbox Game Pass app into the main Xbox app for iOS and Android.

Bloomberg reported that, "Microsoft now spends $1 billion a year getting third-party games on the subscription service." The site said Microsoft offers "flat fees of millions of dollars upfront" to add titles from smaller publishers to Game Pass.

The Xbox Game Pass app can be used within the the main Xbox app, as Microsoft intends to streamline the two platforms.

Rumors have been floated before about an Xbox portable console, but evidence is building that Microsoft may debut a Switch and Steam Deck competitor.

In a bid to streamline its mobile gaming experience, the updated Xbox app will absorb the features of the separate Game Pass app.
