Just don't use the hose. I probably clean and detail/wax it at least twice a week. Most of the year I do ride it every day.

I bought a cable, with loops on both ends, about half inch in diameter, vinyl coated and long enough to go through the steering wheel (in the down position) and then loop through the frame and back to the start. I use a combination padlock to lock the two loops together.
